The Flaming Lips Pay Tribute To Mark Linkous At SXSW Gig

March 15, 2010
The Flaming Lips Pay Tribute To Mark Linkous At SXSW GigThe Flaming Lips paid tribute to Mark Linkous as they performed at the opening night of the South By Southwest (SWSW) festival in Texas on Friday.

Singer Wayne Coyne dedicated the song 'Waitin’ For A Superman' to the Sparklehorse star, who committed suicide earlier this month.

According to Austin Music Source, he told the crowd the track was about “making your own happiness”.

Meanwhile, The Flaming Lips wowed fans with a mesmerising display at Austin Music Hall as they showcased tracks from recent album 'Embryonic'.

The group also unleashed their more well-known hits, including 'The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song' and 'She Don’t Use Jelly'.

As has become customary with Flaming Lips' performances, the live spectacle featured everything from confetti to balloons, as well as dozens of dancers.
