Black Eyed Peas Deny Willow Smith UK Chart HistoryDecember 12, 2010
Black Eyed Peas have scored their fifth number one on the UK singles chart - and denied actor Will Smith's daughter Willow a record-breaking chart debut.
The US group’s latest single ‘The Time (Dirty Bit)’ climbed from number six to number one on this week’s countdown. The track is taken from Black Eyed Peas’ new album ‘The Beginning’, which is up from number seventeen to number nine on this week’s album chart. Ten-year-old Smith’s single ‘Whip My Hair’ was a new entry at number two, meaning she missed out on becoming the youngest chart-topper since Little Jimmy Osmond in 1972. In the album chart, Take That remained at number one for a fourth week with ‘Progress’. The album, which has been tipped to remain at number one at Christmas, sold an extra 200,000 copies, according to the Official Charts Company. Kings Of Leon’s former number one 'Come Around Sundown’ was a re-entry at number seven up from last week’s thirteen.
