Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has said that he checked into rehab in order to find a “safe environment” to recover from surgery on his feet. In a statement, Tyler said the pain caused by the operations had been “greater than I’d expected”. 
Michael Jackson was too scared to appear on the live final of American Idol, it’s been claimed. According to a report in today’s Sun newspaper, the pop star was scheduled to perform on the reality television show earlier this month but pulled out at short notice. 
Sir Paul McCartney has named Radiohead and The Killers among his favourite modern day bands. Speaking ahead of his concert in Liverpool this weekend, McCartney said Radiohead were “really cool”. 
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has said that the band are trying to blend Radiohead and Westlife to create the perfect sound. Martin’s revelation came in an interview where he discussed frequently having dreams about other bands. 
Amy Winehouse has been told to retire early by music fans in a new survey published today. 30% - almost a third– of people questioned said that the singer should withdraw from the music industry in order to tackle her problems in private. 
Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz has defended his decision not to confirm that his wife Ashlee Simpson was expecting the couple’s first child. In an email to MTV, Wentz said that every woman “has the right to wait at least three months before sharing this very personal news.” 
Kaiser Chiefs are among the bands who feature on a workout album designed to get people their ‘bikini bodies’ this summer. The Leeds rockers’ hit ‘Ruby’ is included on ‘The Ultimate Bikini Body Workout Mix’ as a warm down track, alongside other such nimble stars as Kate Nash and Barry White. 
Former Libertines member and Dirty Pretty Things frontman Carl Barat has said that he still values his friendship with former band mate Pete Doherty. Barat, who is currently preparing to release Dirty Pretty Things second album ‘Romance At Short Notice’, said he can imagine a day when the pair get back together. 
The mighty Mogwai have announced details of a new album, EP and UK tour. Their sixth studio album will go under the rather fetching moniker of ‘The Hawk Is Howling’ and will hit the shelves on September 22. It will be preceded by the three-track EP called ‘The Batcat’ on September 8. 
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is to collaborate with Sir Paul McCartney in Liverpool on Sunday (June 1st). Grohl will join the former Beatle on stage during his concert at Anfield, which is part of Liverpool’s year at the European Capital of Culture. 
US rock band Kiss have claimed to have a greater total wealth than a number of small countries. In an interview with the Guardian newspaper, neither signer and guitarist Paul Stanley or bassist Gene Simmons revealed how much they were worth. 
US rapper P Diddy has revealed that he wants to collaborate with Leona Lewis on his next studio album. The rapper said that he was a “huge fan” of the former X-Factor winner, who has achieved huge success over the last 6 months. 
Jennifer Aniston’s other half John Mayer has professed his love for Pete Wentz in a particularly mushy post on his official blog. Under the title ‘Crush Request Accepted’, Mayer praises Wentz for his humbleness, talent and says he is “one of the best eggs in the industry.” 
Muse drummer Dominic Howard says that the band won’t follow Radiohead and allow fans to name what price they pay for their next album. The band are currently recording the as-yet-untitled long player in their studio in Italy. 
Editors frontman Tom Smith has described being invited to support R.E.M as a dream come true. The band are due to support the American band at a number of separate tour and festival dates this summer. 
Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke wants Prince to unblock his cover of the band’s song ‘Creep’ on the video-sharing website YouTube. Currently, all videos of Prince’s rendition of the song, which he performed at the Coachella Festival in Los Angeles last month, were removed after his record label, NPG, claimed they violated copyright laws.
