The Last Shadow Puppets Showered With Biscuits And Bras In LondonOctober 27, 2008
The Last Shadow Puppets performed to a sell-out crowd at London's Hammersmith Palais last night (October 26th) on a stage showered with homemade biscuits.
As Miles Kane and Alex Turner returned to the stage for an encore, the bag of edible goodies was thrown towards at the pair. "Some people get knickers...we get biscuits," deadpanned Turner, before Kane admitted: "I'd prefer knickers, though I do enjoy cake." Sure enough, bras were soon finding their way forward, hurled by overzealous audience members and paraded gleefully by Kane. Earlier the duo, backed by a 19-piece band and orchestra, showcased all of the tracks from their debut album 'The Age Of The Understatement'. They also found time to play a number of covers, including a storming rendition of The Beatles' 'I Want You (She's So Heavy)'. Dedications to Turner's nan, who was seeing him play for the first time, added to the warming feel of the gig. Ipso Facto, the night's support, gained some exposure when singer Rosie returned to perform vocals on Paris Summer, but the biggest cheer of the night was reserved for closer 'Standing Next To Me'.
