The Ting Tings Refuse To Write New Album On TourDecember 18, 2008
The Ting Tings have ruled out starting work on their second album – because they don't like to write while on tour.
The duo are due play dates across the world over the coming months, culminating in a massive UK tour in the spring. But, in an interview with the BBC, drummer Jules De Martino said the group planned to “make some space” to begin work on their second album next April or May. Singer Katie White added: “We have to lock ourselves away a bit, go and see lots of different things, like art and bands, and just get inspired. "It's not inspiring in hotel rooms. So we consciously made an effort to not write. We have ideas and we have song titles and things we want to say but we've not actually turned them into songs yet." The Ting Tings said they planned to create the same “experimental” environment to record in that they used on their number one debut 'We Started Nothing'. “I think we'll be more experimental because we can bring new instruments in," De Martino said. "I think we've got to reinvent that by bringing some new instruments again that we don't play. "We'd like to do a bit of recording in Berlin and in Paris, in Salford of course and maybe a bit in New York as well. "So we make makeshift studios in spaces, and throw parties and record off the back of those again." (by Jason Gregory) See also: The Ting Tings Announce Comeback Single 'Hands' (11.08.2010)
