New Coldplay Album 'Viva La Vida' Leaks OnlineJune 5, 2008
Tracks from Coldplay’s new album ‘Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends’ have begun appearing online.
The album is due to be released in all territories on June 12th but a number of songs have emerged on blog sites. In addition to first single ‘Violet Hill’, albums tracks ‘Yes’, ‘Viva La Vida’, ‘Lovers in Japan’, ‘Lost’, ‘42’ and ‘Cemeteries of London’ can all be heard online. The leak will come as a huge blow to the band’s record label, EMI, who are relying on the record to help resurrect the company’s profits. EMI was purchased last August by private equity company Terra Firma. Speaking earlier this year, the label's new boss, Guy Hands, said ‘Viva La Vida’ was, “right across the world ... the most anticipated album of the year”. Hands has already implemented a huge restructuring operation at the label, which is expected to include the loss of almost 2,000 jobs.
