Smashing Pumpkins To Celebrate 20th Anniversary

May 27, 2008
Smashing Pumpkins To Celebrate 20th AnniversaryReformed rockers Smashing Pumpkins are set to make 2008 another busy year after a 20th anniversary US tour was announced on their website last Tuesday (May 22nd).

No dates or cities have been announced yet for the August and September jaunt, but as the post reveals: “Expect the band to revisit a few specific places that were missed during the last U.S. tour," which would include New York and Chicago.

A commemorative DVD is also planned. Frontman Billy Corgan told artisannews.com: “We're working on a DVD that's sort of a documentary of our residency [at legendary San Francisco venue] Fillmore shows.

Corgan said the documentary will capture the crowd’s reaction to last year’s small club tour, in which the band tried to road-test new and rare material that did not always get a good reception.

Corgan also mentioned a new album would be worked on by next year.

Last year, Corgan was reunited with old bandmate Jimmy Chamberlain and the Pumpkins’ sixth studio album, ‘Zeitgeist’, ended a seven-year hiatus.
