Yoko Ono Sympathises With Heather Mills Over McCartney DivorceApril 4, 2008
John Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono has given her support to Sir Paul McCartney’s ex-wife Heather Mills.
In an interview with Sky News, Ono said that Ms Mills must "do her very best and try to survive" following her public divorce from the former Beatle. "All I can say is it's not very easy for a woman to be associated with The Beatles,” she said. "I think all the wives did suffer, and I think quietly suffer. Suffer but endured, I would actually say." The settlement in McCartney and Ms Mills’ divorce was eventually decided by a high court judge after the couple failed to reach an agreement in private. Ms Mills was awarded £24million in the settlement – which was substantially less than the £125million she had originally asked for. Ono also acknowledged that the divorce proceedings must have been hard for McCartney as well. "I'm very sorry for him to have had to go through all that,” she said. "I haven't spoken to him about that but it's a subject which he probably doesn't want to discuss with other people." (by Jason Gregory) See also: Yoko Ono: I'm An Important Musician (19.04.2011)
