Kate Nash Launches Attack On Leona LewisMarch 18, 2008
Kate Nash has responded to the upset caused by her triumph over Leona Lewis in the award for Best British Female at the Brits last month.
Nash branded Leona “manufactured,” in an article printed today on Yahoo Music News. She went on to say “it was really good I won it because I started this myself. I’m not a manufactured, size-zero pop artist who is going to bring out her own perfume and clothes range.” Nash came to fame following the success of co-written hit single 'Foundations', that reached number two on the UK charts. Her debut album 'Made Of Bricks', released six weeks before schedule to capitalise on the success of the single, was then branded by one reviewer as ‘Pole position for the worst album of the year’. Despite this Nash was keen to express her superiority over other manufactured female artists that she feels give young girls a false impression of beauty. She blamed manufactured female artists for making teenage girls want to “kill themselves,” before concluding, “But I’m quite normal, so it’s great.” (by Hazel Sheffield) See also: Kate Nash: 'I Don't Respect The X Factor' (25.01.2011)
