Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr has revealed that he has been asked to write an autobiography.

Marr, who now performs with The Cribs, said he was currently weighing up how to balance writing the book with songwriting.

“I have been offered a book deal, a serious one,” he told his followers on Twitter.

"I'd get into it and that would mean less time on songs. It will happen though."

In another tweet, Marr added: “It will be an autobiography of course, that or about my collection of fascinating public bus tickets from the '80's. That would be cool.”

Meanwhile, the soundtrack for Inception, on which Marr plays guitar, has been nominated for a BAFTA film award.
