Hurts have announced plans that they will release a Christmas single.

The duo Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson will release ‘All I Want For Christmas Is New Year's Day’ on December 14 for free on iTunes.

The band broke the news on their Twitter: "News just in! Hurts will release a Chrimbo single 'All I Want For Christmas Is New Year's Day' this December. We've heard it & it's AMAZING."

The single will be the follow-up to the band’s latest release ‘Stay’, taken from their debut album ‘Happiness’. Hurts announced details of their 2011 UK and Ireland tour earlier this week.

Meanwhile, Hurts have been approached by Leona Lewis to write material for the singer's forthcoming album.
