Trent Reznor has quit Twitter and plans to give up other social networking sites claiming they're doing him more harm than good. In a gargantuan post on the NIN forum, Reznor goes into great detail as he explains that certain “idiots” have put him off for good. 
Manic Street Preachers, Fleet Foxes and Blur all scooped gongs at the annual Mojo Awards in London last night. The Manics took home the maverick award, while the newly-reformed Blur collected the inspiration award and Fleet Foxes the best live act. 
Lily Allen has hit out at the British National Party, calling them “racist, homophobic Nazis.” The singer made the comments about the far-right group while performing at The Hordern Pavilion in Sydney. 
Madonna has won her appeal to adopt a second child from Malawi. The country's Supreme Court of Appeal this morning overturned an earlier ruling by a lower court which said Madonna did not qualify to adopt Mercy James, 4. 
Former Members of New Order and Alex James of Blur have formed a new band. Bad Lieutenant, which features James on bass alongside singer Bernard Sumner, drummer Stephen Morris and guitarist Phil Cunningham, release their debut album in October. 
US rapper 50 Cent has unveiled plans to release a surprise new mixtape album online. 'War Angel LP', which will be available via the rapper's website from Tuesday, features entirely new material. 
Pete Doherty is to go on trial after he pleaded guilty to two offences of drugs possession and driving without a licence or insurance. Doherty, 30, was released on £50,000 bail during an appearance at Stroud Magistrates' Court this morning. 
Rumble Strips, Gaslight Anthem and Phoenix have all been added to the line up for next month's Latitude festival in Suffolk. Other new additions include The Duckworth Lewis Method, Emmy The Great and Mika. 
Fleet Foxes singer Robin Pecknold has said he believes music has become “richer as an artform” as a result of file-sharing. Pecknold told the BBC there was widespread evidence that bands were making “better music now than was being made pre-Napster”.
