Britney Spears reign at the top of the US album charts has been brought to an end by Taylor Swift. The singer's new album, 'Fearless', pushed Spears 'Circus', which was released two weeks ago, into second place, while Beyonce stayed at three with 'I Am...Sasha Fierce'. 
Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger has endorsed a film which highlights the suffering of a quarter of a million refugees in eastern DR Congo. Gimme Shelter, which is set to the band's song of the same name, has been directed by Hollywood actor and director Ben Affleck. 
BBC broadcaster Jeremy Paxman was “disrespectful” to question British grime star Dizzee Rascal's loyalty to Britain, singer Estelle has said. Paxman asked Rascal, who was born in London, if he felt British during an interview on a recent edition of Newsnight, to which he replied: “Of course I'm British... it don't matter what colour you are." 
Whitney Houston has been sued by her stepmother, Barbara, over a life insurance policy left by her late father, who died in 2003. Barbara Houston claims the singer improperly kept the $1million policy instead of using part of it to pay her father's home mortgage. 
The Ting Tings have ruled out starting work on their second album – because they don't like to write while on tour. The duo are due play dates across the world over the coming months, culminating in a massive UK tour in the spring. 
The Maccabees forthcoming second album will feature production from Markus Dravs. The producer, who has previously worked alongside Arcade Fire and Coldplay, has been working on the project with the band in London and Paris. 
Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose has criticised the “unauthorised” use of the band's music in the video game Guitar Hero. Rose suggested the game's makers Activision did not have permission to use the songs 'Welcome To The Jungle' and 'Sweet Child O' Mine'. 
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has revealed that the band's recent single 'Violet Hill' was inspired by the Beatles. The singer said the song was named after a road in London that joins Abbey Road - a street which has now become synonymous with The Beatles. 
US rapper Soulja Boy has promised to cut down on using vulgar language in order to set a good example to his young fans. The rapper said he wanted to regain the trust of his fans after he was criticised for sweaing in a YouTube video. 
Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell has revealed that he has been writing songs for Florence and The Machine. In an interview with the Daily Star newspaper, Borrell said he hadn't discussed their collaboration in public because of his reputation. 
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has suggested that one of the band's first songs was heavily influenced by Jeff Buckley. In an interview with the BBC, Martin said 'Shiver', which featured on the band's debut album 'Parachutes', was “a blatant Jeff Buckley attempt”. 
Concert promoter Live Nation are in the process of organising U2's next world tour, their chief executive has revealed. Jason Garner told Reuters that the company was “gearing up” for the tour, which will follow the release of U2's 12th studio album. 
Panic at the Disco will begin work on their new album in the New Year, bassist Jon Walker has revealed. Walker said the band the group have already written tracks for the follow-up to this year's 'Pretty. Odd.'.
