Snoop Dogg Asked To Perform At Glastonbury FestivalMarch 16, 2010
Snoop Dogg has been asked to perform at this summer's Glastonbury Festival, Michael Eavis has revealed.
The dairy farmer's daughter Emily is desperate to secure the Doggfather for the Worthy Farm extravaganza and has been buoyed by her decision to book Jay-Z in 2008. Snoop Dogg can now re-apply for a UK visa after two senior immigration judges ruled on March 5th against an earlier decision to ban the rapper from entering the country following a Heathrow Airport brawl in 2007. Michael Eavis told The Sun: "(Emily) is a bright girl and she is very keen on Snoop Dogg doing the show, so we want him. "Her real claim to fame is booking Jay-Z. She came up with the idea, so I phoned his manager. At the end of a 40-minute chat he said Jay-Z would do the show, and the rest is history." Jay-Z's Pyramid Stage slot two years back, infamously derided by Oasis' Noel Gallagher, was one of the most talked about headline appearances of Glastonbury of all time. With U2, Muse and Stevie Wonder already booked for Glastonbury's 40th anniversary celebrations in June, Snoop is likely to get a slot further down the bill on the Pyramid Stage or on The Other Stage. Glastonbury takes place at Worthy Farm, Pilton from June 23rd to the 27th 2010. All tickets are completely sold out. (by Scott Colothan) See also: Snoop Dogg Takes In Troubled Youth (18.04.2011)
