Gorillaz Ahead Of Boyzone In Race For Number One AlbumMarch 10, 2010
Gorillaz are currently ahead of Boyzone in the race for the album chart number one this Sunday.
According to sales figures from the Official Chart Company, 'Plastic Beach' is stretching out a lead ahead of Boyzone's 'Brother' – the Irish boy band's first record in twelve years and first without Stephen Gately. In the official Midweek Album Chart, Amy MacDonald's 'A Curious Thing' is at three, Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Love Never Dies' (Original Cast Recording) is at four and Alicia Keys' 'The Elements Of Freedom' makes up the top five. Over on the singles chart, Tinie Tempah's 'Pass Out' looks set to hold onto the number one slot for a second week while Justin Bieber's 'Baby' is vying for second place with Rihanna's 'Rude Boy'. Official Charts Company managing director, Martin Talbot, said: "With Gorillaz and Boyzone battling it out in the albums chart, and Rihanna under severe pressure from Justin Bieber, there is all to play for this week. "Highlighting these battles is exactly what the Official Chart Update is all about. It looks set to be an exciting week ahead."
