Vampire Weekend In Chart Battle With Florence & The MachineJanuary 12, 2010
Florence & The Machine and Vampire Weekend are battling for this week's number one album in the UK.
First day sales figures show Vampire Weekend's 'Contra' has opened up a slight lead over this week's number two, 'Lungs', in what looks set to be a closely fought battle. However, thanks to the ubiquitous presence of Florence's songs on television adverts and shows her sales look likely to gain momentum towards the end of the week. You Me At Six's 'Hold Me Down' and Delphic's 'Acolyte' should crack the top ten come Sunday according to the sales figures. Over one the singles chart, Iyaz's 'Replay' looks a dead cert to retain the number one slot, while Plan B’s 'Stay Too Long' is a likely contender for a top ten spot.
