Brand New: 'We Don't Know How Much Longer We Will Stay Together'

September 18, 2009
Brand New: 'We Don't Know How Much Longer We Will Stay Together'Brand New have revealed that they don't know how much longer they will stay together for but that they are prouder of their new album 'Daisy' (released on Monday in the UK) than they have ever been of an album.

Speaking to Gigwise, guitarist Vinnie Accardi said “Rumours are interesting because the record isn't even out and people are talking about how it's the last one we'll ever make. To be honest we're not even sure what we're going to do about anything and all people seem to talk about is how this is the end of the band. It's possible that there might not be another record for a while, our touring and recording schedule might become something different to what it is now.”

Despite having concrete plans in place for the immediate future Vinnie was less forthcoming about the Brand New's future plans saying, “We've been together as a band for coming up on ten years now and it's coming to a point where we're trying to figure out what we want to be as a band. There is a lot of planning to be done about how this band can continue with its original members and how we can carry on doing what we do. That might involve us going away for a while but at the moment there is nothing definite planned.”

Speaking of 'Daisy' Vinnie was much more upbeat saying, “People are already saying to me it's their favourite record and that even though it's so far from out first album it shares a spirit and an energy with that album. It's more intense, quicker to the punch and more direct than the last album ('The Devil and God...')”. Pushed to name a favourite track the guitarist opted for 'You Stole' saying that “It really sums up the record and sits in the middle perfectly, totally summing up the album as a whole and where we were when we recorded. It sums up everything the album represents.”

Daisy is released on Monday September 21st.
