Jay-Z Rules Out Making Move Into PoliticsSeptember 17, 2009
Jay-Z has ruled making a move into politics, saying he would say too many “inappropriate things”.
The rapper has been approached about the possibility of a political career since he developed a close alliance with US President Barack Obama. However, in an interview with Shortlist, Jay-Z said he was baffled by the idea because of his background. “In political circles, they live to pretend you have to be perfect, you've never done anything, you can say this,” Jay-Z said. “There's more perception, and I'm not into that. “I'm gonna say a lot of inappropriate things and a term is four years – imagine how many politically incorrect things you'd say. Forget about it.” The rapper also admitted during the interview that he found the constant adulation he received embarrassing. Jay-Z said: “Having the president on his campaign run, dust his shoulders off [a reference to a line from Jay-Z's hit 'Dirt Off Your Shoulder'] in front of the whole world. “It's like, 'Did he just do that? Does he have dandruff on his shoulder?” Jay-Z is currently supporting Coldplay on the UK leg of their world tour.
