Maximo Park To Play First Set At This Year's GlastonburyMay 13, 2009
Maximo Park are set to christen a new stage at this year's Glastonbury by playing the opening set of the whole festival.
They will appear at a Tuborg party held at the brand new William Green area on Thursday (June 25) at 4pm, the day before the official music bill is due to begin. Only the first 1500 fans to attend will be able to see the set to due space limitations on the new stage, though special screens and speakers will allow those outside to witness the performance. Maximo Park will also be playing the Other Stage on the Saturday (June 27) of Glastonbury. Speaking about the festival, front man Paul Smith said: "Glastonbury's still a festival that takes chances, as proven by Jay-Z's triumphant appearance last year, so it's an honour for us to be the first band on, in such intimate surroundings. "It's also an excuse to hang out and watch loads of brilliant music 'til we play the Other Stage on Saturday!"
