Amy Winehouse has been described as the “Pied Piper of St Lucia” after she helped a number of local children, it's been reported.

The singer, who is recording her third album on the Caribbean island, took the children horse riding on a nearby beach over the weekend.

“Amy is happiest when she’s with children — kids love her,” a source told The Sun newspaper.

“The children she took to the beach on Saturday were following her round and all vying for her attention.

“She’s determined to do as much as she can for local kids as they’re a lot less fortunate than she is.”

Winehouse has been joined in St Lucia by her father, Mitch. The singer has been a guest on the island on and off for the last five months.

She is widely expected to release her next studio album later this year.
