Kooks' Luke Pritchard To Play G20 Political RallyMarch 27, 2009
The Kooks' singer Luke Pritchard will play a solo set at a political rally on Victoria Embankment, London tomorrow (March 28th).
The singer will play “two or three songs” at the event, which is intended to serve as a public forum where people can discuss the issues of next week's G20 summit. Political leaders from around the world will descend on London for the summit, with the global financial crisis expected to be high on the agenda. "G20 gives us the opportunity to go and say to the people we elected and say 'This is how we feel'. And they have to listen,” Pritchard told BBC Newsbeat. "Non-violent protest works." Pritchard, who learned about the Put People First rally from his mother, said it was important to speak out, especially during a recession. "A lot of my friends are just coming out of university - you've worked really hard for your degree and then it's impossible to get a job,” he said. "Everyone is talking about it, and everyone is worried.” As previously reported, The Kooks have announced a one-off show in Leamington Spa next month.
