Morrissey May Retire In Five YearsFebruary 16, 2009
Morrissey has admitted that the chances of him continuing his singing career past the age of 55 is “very slim.”
The music legend, who turns 50 this year, was speaking to xfm's Ian Camfield when he touched upon the idea of retirement. He explained that very few stars remain relevant in old age, saying: “I assume most people lose it because they become satisfied and they achieve everything they ever set out to achieve. “More to the point, they become personally satisfied and that they’re quite happy and it doesn’t matter any more. It’s very interesting that it’s very hard to think of anybody who ages and still manages to mean anything.” Asked whether he will continue beyond the ages of 55 or 60, Mozza replied: “I think it’s incredibly slim. For Heaven’s sake! Really?” (by Scott Colothan) See also: Morrissey Agrees With Johnny Marr Over David Cameron (21.04.2011)
