Michael Jackson's 'Wishes Sheik Well' After LawsuitNovember 25, 2008
Michael Jackson and the second son of the King of Bahrain have wished each other well after agreeing to settle a legal dispute out of court.
Jackson had been due to give evidence in London yesterday (November 24th) to try and counter allegations that he breached a recording contract with Sheikh Abdulla Bin Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa. But his trip was abandoned late on Sunday evening after both parties concluded a principle settlement. In a joint statement, their legal teams said: “Sheikh Abdulla and Michael Jackson are pleased to confirm that they have amicably settled their dispute. "They wish each other well in their own, respective endeavours.” The deal will remain confidential. Jackson was being sued for £4.7million by the Sheikh, who housed the singer in Bahrain after he was acquitted of child molestation charges in 2005. In return for his hospitality, he claimed Jackson agreed to record new material at a purpose built studio at his former Neverland home, write an autobiography and put on a stage show. The pair developed a "close personal relationship" during Jackson's stay, the Sheik's lawyer, Bankim Thanki, told the court last Monday.
