Snow Patrol: 'Super Furry Animals Are Our Generation's Beatles'

September 24, 2008
Snow Patrol: 'Super Furry Animals Are Our Generation's Beatles'Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody has called the Super Furry Animals this generation’s equivalent of the Beatles.

The singer told the BBC that the Welsh group, fronted by Gruff Rhys, “should be a giant, absolutely massive band because they've made some of the greatest pop music ever."

"I think they’re our generation’s Beatles," he added.

Despite achieving three top-10 albums, Super Furry Animal's have always enjoyed more success away from the mainstream.

Lightbody said he became a fan of the band after hearing 'Demons', which featured on Super Furry Animals' second album 'Radiator'.

“This album meant an awful lot to me. If Nirvana made me pick up a guitar four years before, Super Furry Animals made me think about what I had to say with it," Lightbody said.

Snow Patrol are currently preparing to release their own album, 'A Hundred Million Suns', which is due out next month.
