U2 Confirmed To Play Glastonbury Festival 2011February 24, 2011
U2 will headline the opening night of this year’s Glastonbury Festival, it’s been confirmed.
The Irish band will top the bill in the same slot they were due to fill last year before pulling out when singer Bono injured his back. Instead, guitarist The Edge, who announced U2's appearance at the NME Awards in London, joined Muse during their performance on the Pyramid Stage. They join previously announced headliners Beyonce and Coldplay at the festival, which runs from June 24-26. No other acts performing at the festival have yet to be confirmed by organisers. Tickets for the event have already sold out. (by Jason Gregory) See also: U2 Promise 'Glastonbury On Steroids' Performance (28.04.2011)
