U2 To Release Special Edition Of New Album Priced $96December 24, 2008
A special edition box set of U2’s forthcoming album ‘No Line On The Horizon’ will cost $96.
The release includes the album, a 60-page hardcover book, two posters and a new film from Anton Corbijn which features the band’s music. The album, U2's first in five years, will be available in a total of five different formats when it is released on March 2nd. As well as standard CD and double-vinyl, fans will be able to buy a $35.98 digi-pack version which includes a 36-page booklet, poster and Corbijn’s film. Meanwhile, a magazine edition, priced $49.98, will include the 60-page book and a download version of the film. As previously reported, the band began initial recording sessions for 'No Line On The Horizon' with producer Rick Rubin. But, in an interview last month, guitarist The Edge said the sessions were scrapped because the partnership hadn't worked out. "We actually laid all that stuff to one side. Really out of deference to Rick and that set of songs we just said, OK, that’s that, and we drew a line," he said. U2 eventually went on to record the album with Eno and Lanois at their home studios in Dublin. (by Jason Gregory) See also: U2 Promise 'Glastonbury On Steroids' Performance (28.04.2011)
