U2 Have 'Reinvented Rock'N'Roll Music On New Album'November 18, 2008
U2 have reinvented rock'n'roll music on their new album, according to their producer Daniel Lanois.
Lanois, who has produced the as-yet-untitled project with Brian Eno, described the album's songs as “wildly innovative”. “The president of the company is singing better than ever,” Lanois said, in reference to frontman Bono. “I would never have thought things would have gone this way. I believe, well, rock ’n’ roll has been reinvented one more time.” The producer also told the Boston Herald that his long term production relationship with the band had survived because of “their appetite for innovation”. He added: “They want things to be new and fresh, and they never get stuck on how the band should sound. They’re very smart people. And Eno and I just have a lot of fun with them, especially for the first 20 or 30 percent of the record. “During those first sessions, it’s no-holds-barred, we take on anything that comes our way. I also think Bono’s lyrics get better with every record.” (by Jason Gregory) See also: U2 Promise 'Glastonbury On Steroids' Performance (28.04.2011)
