Doves Plan Two Year Hiatus From MusicApril 28, 2010
Doves are taking a break from recording any more new music for at least two years.
The Manchester band say they need some “breathing space” and see their recently released 'Best Of' album as the end of a chapter in their career. Singer Jimi Goodwin explained to the Daily Record: "It's nice just to have a bit of breathing space. We just wanted to get off that whole album-tour-album-tour treadmill. “None of us are ready to face going into the studio for another two years. This is wiping the slate clean, we have nothing else in the vaults now. That is it. Whatever we do from now on will be a new start." Goodwin also revealed he's hoping to eventually collaborate with Elbow's Guy Garvey following years of talk between them. "Me and Guy have been talking about it endlessly for years,” he said. “There are a couple of tracks that we have passed back and forwards to each other but it's having the time. “We keep trying to get our diaries together, who knows if it will ever get released. I'm just waiting to see what might happen.” Doves play V Festival and The Eden Sessions this summer. (by Scott Colothan) See also: Doves Have 'No Plans' To Record Another Album (08.09.2010)
