The xx Braced For Chart Boost Following Mercury Prize NominationJuly 21, 2010
The xx are on course to re-enter the top-40 of the UK album chart following their nomination for this year's Mercury Prize.
The band are at number 32 in the midweek countdown, with a host of other nominated acts also seeing sales increases. The xx are the bookies favourite to win this year's award, which will be handed out in September. Meanwhile, Eminem is expected to retain the number one spot with his latest album 'Recovery', according to the Offical Charts Company. But the hip-hop star is in a close battle with British rapper Professor Green, whose new album 'Alive Till I'm Dead' is currently at number two. In the singles chart, Yolanda Be Cool Vs D Cup's 'We Speak No Americano' looks set to debut at number one. US rapper B.o.B is currently at number one on the single chart with his Paramore's Hayley Williams-featuring song, 'Airplanes'.
