Bobby Womack: 'Damon Albarn Is Like Jimi Hendrix And Ray Charles'

May 18, 2010
Bobby Womack: 'Damon Albarn Is Like Jimi Hendrix And Ray Charles'Bobby Womack has compared Gorillaz and Blur star Damon Albarn to Jimi Hendrix and Ray Charles.

The singer, who appears on Gorillaz new album ‘Plastic Beach', said Albarn was “the same way” in the studio as his past collaborators.

“He's very creative and thinks way out there, trying things that people don't try," Womack told The Sun.

Womack added that, despite his illustrious past, working with Gorillaz had been one of the highlights of his career.

“I have lived a life and just to be on stage singing with Gorillaz is something,” he added.

As previously reported, Gorillaz will embark on a nationwide UK and Ireland arena tour later this year.
