The White Stripes 'To Return Following Hiatus'March 16, 2010
The White Stripes will return to performing “sooner than later”, according to a film director who worked with the duo on their last tour.
Emmett Malloy tracked the band during their 2007 Canadian dates for the documentary, Under Great White Northern Lights. In an interview with BBC 6 Music, Malloy said he was confident that Jack and Meg White were ready to get back together following their hiatus. “After this tour, we all needed a break but I just can’t imagine that band not doing more records and doing more shows,” he said. “They just probably needed a break like everybody does. I foresee them doing some shows together sooner than later.” Malloy revealed that both Jack and Meg were left “emotionally and physically exhausted” following their 2007 tour. Since The White Stripes completed the jaunt, Jack White has recorded and toured with side-project The Dead Weather. Under Great White Northern Lights is due to be released on DVD later this year.
