Soulja Boy Fans Inundate English Family With Endless Phone Calls

July 1, 2009
Soulja Boy Fans Inundate English Family With Endless Phone CallsFans of Soulja Boy have begun inundating an Oldham family with phone calls after the US rapper listed their phone number in a song.

'Kiss Me Thru The Phone', which was released last month, includes the first seven digits of the family's phone number.

If the number is dialed from within the Greater Manchester area, the caller will be put straight through the family.

Gerry Matley and his wife Catriona Howard Smith told the BBC they had been receiving up to 60 calls a day from the star's fans.

Although the frequency was higher when Howard Smith appeared appeared on Five Live last night.

"We just tell them that he doesn't live in Oldham," she said.

"They have asked if I am his girlfriend but I think I am a bit too old, even for Soulja Boy.”

But despite the large volume of calls, Howard Smith said that they weren't concern about the mix-up.

The number is believed to have been copied onto more than 300,000 websites since the track became a UK chart hit in June.
