Ting Tings Attack Former Friend Over Vinyl Rip OffsMay 19, 2008
The Ting Tings have attacked a friend who has been selling rare copies of their number one single ‘That’s Not My Name’ without their permission.
Copies of the song, which was released as a limited edition last year, have been selling on auction site eBay for £60. Writing on their Myspace, the band said the friend had kept hold of a number of copies from the limited run of 500. They said the venture has “nothing to do with us as we would never charge that money for our singles”. The group said the behaviour was “shocking”, adding that the friend was just “cashing in”. The band replaced Madonna at the top of the UK singles chart yesterday (May 18th), as Neil Diamond took the album top spot for the first time in his forty year career.
