The Strokes Play Homecoming Gig At New York Fashion WeekSeptember 13, 2010
The Strokes played a homecoming gig in New York last night (September 12) as part of Fashion Week.
The band were surprise special guests at designer Tommy Hilfiger's 25th-anniversary party at the Metropolitan Opera house. The Strokes’ set featured several of their greatest hits, including ‘New York City Cops’, 'Last Nite' and ‘Someday'. "What is up? It's been my dream since I was a little boy to play the Metropolitan Opera,” singer Julian Casablancas told the crowd of invited guests. The band ended their performance with ‘Juicebox’, according to New York Magazine’s Vulture blog. As they departed, Casablancas said: “Thanks, we had fun.” The Strokes are currently working on their new album, which is due to be released in March 2011.
