Former Echo and the Bunnymen Keyboardist Dies In Motorbike Crash

September 4, 2009
Former Echo and the Bunnymen Keyboardist Dies In Motorbike CrashEcho and the Bunnymen's former keyboardist Jake Brockman has died in a motorbike crash on the Isle of Man.

The 53-year-old died when his motorbike collided with a converted ambulance on the outskirts of the village of Kirk Michael.

He was taken to Noble's Hospital but died shortly afterwards on Tuesday (September 1).

His widow Sally Mundy said in a statement: "Jake was always a classic bike enthusiast, he loved sailing though he was invariably seasick. Music was central to Jake's life."

Brockman performed with Echo and the Bunnymen throughout the eighties and became an official member in 1989.

Tragically, Echo and the Bunnymen drummer Pete de Frietas also died in a motorcycle accident back in 1989 at the age of 27.

de Freitas had been returning to Liverpool from London when he died.
