Shane MacGowan Teams Up With Johnny Depp For Haiti Charity Song!February 4, 2010
Shane MacGowan has teamed up with Hollywood megastar Johnny Depp for a Haiti charity single.
The Pogues frontman has also drafted in Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie, The Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde, The Clash's Mick Jones, The Sex Pistols' Glen Matlock, Nick Cave and Paloma Faith for the cover of the Screamin' Jay Hawkins song 'I Put A Spell On You'. According to Pitchfork, Johnny Depp is contributed guitars to the track from the US. The UK stars recorded their bit in London last Friday (January 29). Shane MacGowan's long-term partner Victoria Clarke says the get-together was "pulled together in a matter of days”. Meanwhile, Paloma Faith enthused to the Daily Star: “I’ve recorded a cover of I Put A Spell On You with Shane MacGowan, Nick Cave and Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie. “Simon Cowell didn’t want Shane in his perfectly created thing and we wanted to help.” Released later this month, all proceeds from the song will go to the Dublin based charity Concern Worldwide which has ties to Haiti.
