Pink Floyd's Roger Waters The Wall Tour Accused Of Anti-Semitism

October 2, 2010
Pink Floyd's Roger Waters The Wall Tour Accused Of Anti-SemitismPink Floyd’s Roger Waters has been criticised for using alleged anti-Semitic imagery in his new stage show.

The Anti-Defamation League slammed Waters for showing Stars of David and dollar signs falling like bombs from aeroplanes during the song ‘Goodbye Blue Sky’.

Abe Foxman, director of the league, said the imagery conveyed the stereotypical view about Jews and their “supposed obsession with making money”.

"Of course, Waters has every right to express his political views about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through his music and stagecraft,” Foxman said.

"However, the images he has chosen, when put together in the same sequence, cross a line into anti-Semitism.”

But Waters' partner, Laurie Durning, rejected the claims, telling the New York Post the show was “unapologetically anti-war”.

The 30th anniversary tour of the The Wall is due to arrive in the UK next May.
