Iggy Pop Says Ron Asheton 'Peed Beautiful Music On Me' At Tribute GigApril 20, 2011
Iggy Pop paid tribute to the late Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton at a tribute concert in Michigan last night (April 19).
Asheton died at his home in Michigan in 2009 after suffering a heart attack. He was 60. Paying tribute to the guitarist at the Ann Arbor's Michigan Theater, Pop said: "I need to thank Ron. He sort of peed this beautiful music all over me. "When I started a band Ron was the first guy who got behind me. I owe him...I know he's trying to flick ashes on my head from heaven right now." According to Rolling Stone, Pop then playing a new song entitled 'Ron's Tune', backed by James Williams - the guitarist who took over Asheton's role in 1973.
