Julian Casablancas: 'The Strokes Are Split Over New Album Songs'

October 23, 2009
Julian Casablancas: 'The Strokes Are Split Over New Album Songs'Julian Casablancas has revealed he and his Strokes bandmates are split over certain songs on their new album.

The singer said there was a “disagreement” within the group over the follow-up to 2006's 'First Impressions Of Earth'.

"There is a disagreement as to whether the songs are ready,” Casablancas told The Sun newspaper.

“Some of the band think they are and others don't. I'm somewhere in the middle.”

The singer, who is currently promoting his solo career, admitted some of the band's problems stemmed from their different living locations.

"The problem is getting us together. We're scattered everywhere, and apart from when we're rehearsing we don't see each other,” he said.

“We're not like people who go to the movies together. It's weird with the band, a band is actually a great way to ruin a friendship."

Casablancas' debut solo album, 'Phrazes For The Young', is released on November 2.

The singer has so far previewed two songs off the record – 'River Of Breaklights' and '11th Dimension' – on his official website.
