The Long Blondes' Kate Jackson Launches Solo CareerOctober 21, 2008
Former Long Blondes singer Kate Jackson has unveiled plans to launch a solo career after the band's demise.
Jackson, who wrote music for the group alongside guitarist Dorian Cox, said she had yet to settle on a direction for her material. "I'm just beginning but I think it will reflect my personal music taste a bit more than the Long Blondes, which was a collaborative thing,” she told BBC 6Music. "I've only just started and a lot of the influences will overlap so hopefully fans of the Long Blondes will like what I do." As previously reported, Cox confirmed that The Long Blondes had split yesterday (October 21st). In a statement, the guitarist revealed that he had suffered a stroke in the summer which has left him unable to play the guitar. Speaking about Cox's condition, Jackson said: “When it first happened he couldn't move his leg or his arm at all and we weren't sure how his speech, memory, or intelligence were going to be affected. "Thankfully those things are completely unaffected. He's still the same Dorian, just lovely and hilariously funny. We haven't lost him at all, it's just the arm now that they're working on." Neither Cox nor Jackson ruled out reuniting the band in the future. Kate Jackson is set to DJ alongside Gigwise DJs and Dave Haslam on November 7th at London's The Last Days of Decadence venue. The Twisted Licks club night will also feature performances from Underground Railroad and A.Human. (by Jason Gregory) See also: The Long Blondes Pull Out Of Insomniacs Ball (14.05.2008)
