Pete Doherty: 'I Would Love The Libertines To Reform'March 17, 2009
Pete Doherty has spoken about his desire for his former band The Libertines to reunite.
The singer, who now fronts Babyshambles, said “he would love” the reunion to take place, but claimed former bandmate Carl Barat was still to be convinced. "It's just a bit dubious isn't it? He doesn't want to go down the same path and pick up the pieces again," Doherty told BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe. "He still thinks I'm surrounded by this dark energy so [it won't happen] until I can prove I'm worth the risk." The Libertines split in 2004 because of Doherty's escalating drug problems, but the singer and Barat have been spotted together increasingly over recent months. Barat, who went on to form the Dirty Pretty Things, is currently perusing a solo career. Doherty said he wanted to get back together with his former bandmate to play The Libertines' hits again. "I would love to play them again, simple as that really," he said. "I'd love to play 'Death On The Stairs' or 'Don't Look Back Into The Sun' live and I'd love to play with Carl." He added: "There's obviously suggestions put forward and offers made so it's not about the money for him otherwise we would have reformed already. He just wants to make sure it's right." Doherty's debut solo album, 'Grace/Wastelands', is out this week. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Carl Barat Speaks About Future Of The Libertines (27.04.2011)
