The Enemy Slam Arctic Monkey's BRIT Awards WinsMarch 7, 2008
The Enemy’s frontman Tom Clarke has accused the organisers of the BRIT Awards of being spineless for awarding the major prizes to the Arctic Monkeys.
Arctic Monkeys walked away with Best British Band and Best British album at the award ceremony in London earlier this month. “It's disappointing the Arctic Monkeys were given loads of awards,” he told the Mirror. "They only won so much because the bosses knew it wouldn't offend anyone.” Clarke said he felt that awards ceremonies had “turned into the Arctic Monkeys show”. "I suppose you can't begrudge them one award,” he added. "They have had one good album and one average one but they haven't done anything special this year." After snubbing the ceremony itself last year, the Arctic Monkeys accepted their awards this year dressed as country gents.
