Paul Simonon and Mick Jones To Produce Clash 'London Calling' FilmDecember 1, 2010
The Clash's Paul Simonon and Mick Jones are to executive produce a film about the making of the band's classic album 'London Calling'.
The biopic will be named after the record and tell the story of how producer Guy Stevens engineered the album. The screenplay will be written by playwright Jez Butterworth, while Alison Owen – the mother of singer Lily Allen - and Paul Trijbits will produce. "Fans of The Clash all over the world have been waiting a long time to see their extraordinary story played out properly and accurately on the big screen," Owen said. "We're happy that Mick and Paul have given the project their blessing and are on board to help steer the ship." 'London Calling' was released in December 1979 and is widely regarded as the band's finest album. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Mick Jones Launches Clash Museum In London (23.07.2009)
