Beatles Fans Launch Bid To Save Ringo Starr's HomeAugust 25, 2010
Beatles fans have launched a bid to save drummer Ringo Starr's former Liverpool home from being demolished.
Councillors have decided that the property, in Madryn Street, Toxeth, is not worth saving and should be knocked down as past of widespread redevelopment in the area. Starr, who turned 70 earlier this year, lived at the house in the early years of his life. The Save Madryn Street (SMS) campaign is due to be launched today (August 25) by a Ringo Starr lookalike, Max Frudd. Phil Coppell, a local Beatles guide and campaign founder, told the BBC they would “fight tooth and nail” to save the house from demolition.
