Carl Barat Deal Reveals New Libertines GigsFebruary 28, 2011
A deal is in place for The Libertines to perform more gigs following their reunion last year, it has emerged.
The additional unconfirmed shows form part of a deal singer Carl Barat has signed with the investment firm Power Amp, which specialises in backing established artists in the music industry. Barat has signed a £500,000 multi-revenue stream deal with the company, who will help fund all aspects of his career, including music, publishing and touring, reports the Independent. Following a showcase for potential investors in London recently, Power Amp's chief executive Tom Bywater was asked whether the agreement included Libertines gigs. "It includes a meaningful amount from Libertines gigs,” he replied. Barat said the deal was about remaining “independent” and proves that artists no longer need the support of a major record label. The Libertines reformed for a series of gigs last summer, including the Reading and Leeds festivals. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Carl Barat Speaks About Future Of The Libertines (27.04.2011)
