Weezer Defend Using Jorge Garcia On 'Hurley' Album CoverSeptember 15, 2010
Weezer have defended their decision to put actor Jorge Garcia on the cover of their new album 'Hurley'.
Several critics have accused the band of selling out by using the picture of Garcia, who played Hurley in the hit TV series Lost. The album also shares its name with a well known clothing brand. But in an interview with BBC 6 Music, drummer Pat Wilson said people had overreacted. "Pitchfork's like it's an outrageous cover, really outrageous? are you outraged? it's just a guy smiling, a large moonface smiling at you," he said. Singer Rivers Cuomo said that the cover was a “striking image”, that contained “so much warmth and love”. He also revealed that the band decided to call the album 'Hurley' because fans would have linked the name to the picture. 'Hurley', which is Weezer's eighth studio album, was released this week.
