Animal Collective To Stage Performance Piece At Guggenheim Museum

February 18, 2010
Animal Collective To Stage Performance Piece At Guggenheim MuseumAnimal Collective are the to take part in the Guggenheim museum's 50th anniversary celebrations in New York.

The band have collaborated with artist Danny Perez on a performance piece that will transform the museum’s rotunda into a kinetic, psychedelic environment.

Transverse Temporal Gyrus features specially composed music, which will be played along with jungle-themed video projections, costumes, and props.

Visitors will be invited to freely explore the space while the exhibition is in progress.

In a statement, Animal Collective said: “We invite you to come take some time out and sit with us.

“As time passes it is our hope that you will wonder if you are hearing songs or patterns or maybe simply hearing more.

“The visual work of Danny Perez has been incorporated to turn the environment of an empty museum into a more mysterious hideaway.”

The band added: “The core elements and colours are worked into the piece in order to unite this room of sound with the inside of your brain. We hope you enjoy.”

Transverse Temporal Gyrus takes begins at 9am on March 4.

Advance tickets are on sale now priced $25 for members and $30 for non-members.
