Robbie Williams Helping Mark Owen Overcome Drink ProblemMarch 12, 2010
Mark Owen has revealed that he has been struggling with a “drink problem” for the last decade.
The Take That star said he had turned to former band mate Robbie Williams and a therapist in his bid to overcome his issues. Owen's admission comes after he apologised on Thursday for having at least ten affairs behind his wife's back. In an interview with The Sun, he said: “I have had issues for a long time. I've drunk for the last 10 years and it got to a bad point.” The singer said he “never really saw the problem” until his wife, Emma, “asked me to stop”.
"I want to make it absolutely clear I am not using the drink as an excuse,” he said.
“I've been living with the guilt. Maybe the drink was my way of dealing with the guilt."
Owen, a father of two, also revealed that he used to be a heavy cannabis user.
