Orbital Inspired To Reunite By The Chemical Brothers

March 2, 2009
Orbital Inspired To Reunite By The Chemical BrothersOrbital have revealed that they decided to reform after seeing fellow dance acts such as The Chemical Brothers performing live.

The dance duo of Paul and Phil Hartnoll announced their reformation at the end of last year – four years after their last performance at the Glastonbury festival.

Speaking to the BBC, Paul Hartnoll said he had felt a “pull” to reunite with his brother.

But he remained sceptical as to whether they would record new material together.

“We felt the call of the wild to revisit the Orbital stuff," he said. "It feels right - it feels exciting, it feels fresh again.

"We've got five years absence of new ideas - it just felt like the right thing to do."

After spending the last three years working on solo material, Hartnoll said he had grown to miss performing live.

"The first couple of years I was relieved to have finished that chapter of my life and I was really enjoying doing other things," he said.

"The last couple of years I've just felt this pull back to it - just seeing people like the Chemical Brothers on stage and really enjoying a concert of theirs and thinking 'Oh, yeah I miss doing that'".

The dance group are scheduled to headline a number of festivals this summer, including Get Loaded in the Park in London.

But Hartnoll admitted that they were taking it “one step at a time”, and refused to discuss the possibility of new material.

"I'm not going to say no or anything like that because I said that before when I said we weren't going to play anymore, and here we are five years later playing gigs,” he said.
