Johnny Borrell: Big Bands Take Things Too SeriouslySeptember 30, 2010
Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell has accused big bands of getting “too serious about things”.
The singer is currently recording the group's follow-up to 2008's 'Slipway Fires' and said he had adopted a care-free approach to the record. “You get very self important and rock and roll is not worth taking too seriously,” he said. “It's gonna be my fourth album but I want it to be like a debut album because I think that's where it is at." Borrell told XFM that the as-yet-untitled effort would be like a “party album” and contain the “energetic rock and roll” of Razorlight's early sound. Meanwhile, Borrell play a one-off gig at a charity shop in London last night (September 29) as part of Oxfam's month-long Oxjam events. As with other recent shows, the singer was once again backed by a band that included none of Razorlight's original line-up.
